Indian Wells/Palm Desert Neighborhood Glide

This tour offers riders a quiet glide through the beautiful foothill neighborhoods of Palm Desert and Indian Wells. Starting from any Palm Desert resort/hotel, ABT guides riders along a scenic route to Ironwood Park, the break point. After refreshments, riders are offered a "fitness ride" option which adds approximately 6 miles and a substantially more aerobic workout. Those not choosing the optional ride can enjoy a longer break in the park, taking in the spectacular views and snapping a few more pictures. The route includes spectacular scenery, celebrity homes, prominent country clubs, local sporting event and venue information, and other desert trivia and history. Tour concludes at the resort/hotel from which it started.

Stroll and Roll

To enjoy the best Palm Springs has to offer, one has to be outside. This tour takes guests off the beaten paths of the major thoroughfares and explores the quiet neighborhoods and famous canyons along the base of Mt. San Jacinto. The journey begins at a select site on the North end of town where guests begin a leisurely "roll" on bikes through the famous homes and elegant boutique hotels of historic Palm Springs. A brief stop at the mouth of legendary Tahquitz Canyon with commentary about its famous Indian ghosts begins the transition from modern to historic. A gradual climb takes the group into the Indian Canyons where we leave civilization behind and enter the world of the Cahuilla Indian. After a break at the Trading Post and a snack and beverage to reward the climb to the top of the hill, guests are escorted into the world's largest natural palm oasis.
A short yet informative "stroll" introduces guests to the geology of the oasis, and the ways in which it was used by the Indians. Back on the bikes it's a quick roll back down the hill to the ending venue at Palapas where guests are given the opportunity for a little shopping spree among the artisans in residence.
Tour Features & Characteristics:
The best of Palm Springs; elegant neighborhoods, Indian lore and history.

Alternative: Riding distance and time can be minimized by ending the tour at the Trading Post in the Indian Canyons.
Mountain Majesty

As beautiful as our desert rides are, some folks simply prefer the cooler mountains. Geared more toward the spirit of true mountain biking, this tour requires a motorcoach to transport riders a mere 45 minutes to Garner Valley, and an entirely different eco-structure to that of the desert. Riding through this lush ranch setting, riders will see gorgeous views while enjoying temperatures 15 to 30 degrees cooler than the desert. And best of all, the ride is predominantly downhill or flat making it suitable for riders of all fitness levels. Away from the concentrated population of the desert floor, this ride can truly be classified as an adventure guests will not soon forget!
Tour Features & Characteristics:
Guests will gain a first-hand perspective of our widely divergent eco-systems as they motor from "palms to pines"; sea level to over 2500 feet at the start point. Carefully routed on all paved surfaces, this tour is 85% flat or downhill, with climbs at the novice level. Beautiful scenery abounds, and the photo opportunities are endless!
Coach required for entire event.
Riding Distance: 14-16 miles.
Terrain: Paved. 85% downhill or flat; 15% climbing at novice level.
Fitness/Riding Level: Novice to Advanced.
Duration: 4-6 hours including motor transportation to and from resort/hotel.
Alternatives: Boxed lunches provide the opportunity to turn this tour into an eventful 6 hour adventure (example 9:00am-3:00pm). An off-road option may be included for more-advanced riders wanting to "kick up a little dirt" or get a little more aerobic workout.
King of the Mountain

Off-Road Mountain Bike Adventure
The only pavement riders will see on this tour is that which the motorcoach uses to get them to the start point of this spectacular and challenging ride. ABT has identified the ultimate mountain venue for physically fit thrill seekers and advanced riders. An ABT off-road terrain specialist guide will lead a scenic "climb & descent" trip from the floor of Garner Valley to higher elevations. Prior to departure, ABT guides will offer a brief but informative seminar on recommended riding procedures. Following a brief flat leg designed for warm-up, riders begin an advanced climb up Thomas Mountain.

Pace and distance of climb is wholly group dependent. Given the remote nature of this ride, guides will pace group so as to keep participants relatively together. Riders are not permitted to do solo break-aways or side trips; buddy system strongly enforced. The descent back down is the riders' reward for the hard climb, and broad grins and 'high-fives' abound at trails end. This is one ride they will be talking (pronounced bragging) about back home for years to come!
Tour Features & Characteristics:
ABT's ultimate off-road mountain biking adventure, this tour is designed specifically for advanced riders and the physically fit. Superb team-building experience for small groups (5-10). Ride is sufficiently challenging to justify pride in those who complete it!
Coach required.
Riding Distance: Group dependent; minimum 15 miles.
Terrain: Dirt "fire roads" 50% advanced climbing; 50% advanced descent.
Fitness/Riding Level: Advanced-Expert.
Duration: 4-5 hours.
