Point to Port, The Cabrillo Descent

Starting high above the San Diego Bay at Cabrillo National Monument, this tour begins with the end in sight! Riders arrive early to take in the views of San Diego and appreciate the historical significance of the Monument, then mount up for the rolling descent to the Bay. Ample bike paths through spectacular neighborhoods lead to a gorgeous level glide along the Bay to Seaport Village. Optional forays into Shelter or Harbor Island can be added if time allows, and/or if riders desire extended mileage.

Spectacular scenery and notable points of interest.
Average distance tour ride with alternating novice to intermediate climbing & descending from the
Monument to Harbor Drive.
More challenging ride than comparatively flat bay tours.
Requires that riders be coached to starting point.
Riding Distance: 15-20 miles depending on finish point and Shelter or Harbor Island loops.
Terrain: Paved; predominantly bike paths. Rolling climbs and descents from Monument to flat bay leg.
Fitness/Riding Level: Intermediate.
Duration: 4 hours.
Alternatives: Time permitting, fitness loops through Harbor and/or Shelter Islands can be added. Boxed lunches or a restaurant stop could turn this tour into a 5-hour event.
Circuit-Mission Bay

A more natural novice bike tour would be hard to find. Level from start to finish, this tour makes a complete circle of Mission Bay along excellent bike paths. Starting at the east-side Visitor Center the tour heads south and then west past Sea World to the first break at the Mission Beach jetty. Turning north, the tour follows Ocean Front Walk past Belmont Park, then passes over to the Bayside Walk to minimize pedestrian congestion. The second and final break is at beautiful Crown Point. Finishing at the Visitor Center, riders will have experienced one of the premier seaside bike glides anywhere!

Alternatives: An optional "fitness ride" loop onto Fiesta Island can be added for riders desiring a more aerobic workout.
Cliff-Side Cruise: La Jolla to Mission Bay

Starting in Scripps Park in beautiful La Jolla, this tour provides an incredible mix of gorgeous La Jolla neighborhoods spread along rolling cliff-sides, and level ocean-side and Mission Bay riding. Traversing La Jolla along quiet street bike routes, this tour winds its way down to the ocean in Pacific Beach. There the tour turns inland to pick up the bayside bike path to the Mission Beach jetty and a break with spectacular ocean views. A short Ocean Front cruise leads back to the Bayside path to Crown Point and the final break. The tour concludes at the Visitor Center on the east side of Mission Bay.

Gorgeous park break points.
Suitable to all fitness levels. Rolling novice hills in La Jolla; level on ocean and bay sections.
Low mileage given easy terrain.
Coach required for drop off and pick up.
Riding Distance: 15 miles.
Terrain: Paved. Quiet city street bike routes through La Jolla, then dual-use bike/pedestrian paths for remainder of tour.
Fitness/Riding Level: Novice
Duration: 3-4 Hours.
Alternatives: Route may be easily shortened or lengthened dependant upon group fitness level.
